Meet Mel. We go way back, and by way back, I mean birth. (We’re cousins) Just recently she launched a brand new blog called What the Mel are you Wearing. It is full of fun fashion tips from her, recipes, etc. She is so gifted when it comes to style, as you will see in these photos. Despite the rain, we had a great time shooting photos of her for the blog, and our friend Katie even jumped in for a few shots. Go check out her blog, and leave her some love!
Good morning everyone! Today it is my pleasure to post a snapshot of Lindsay & Cody’s engagement shoot from over the Christmas holiday. We took them out at McMenamins Edgefield on one very cold and drizzly day. They had no problem braving the winter weather though, and had smiles on their faces the whole time.
Something new that I will be starting with 2013 is having the couples I photograph write up how they met and a little preview of their story. Why? Why not! There is something about knowing someone’s story, even just a piece of it, that allows you to connect and appreciate photos so much more. So a BIG thank you to Lindsay for writing up her and Cody’s love story:
We met when we were about 2 years old when our mothers worked together at a beauty salon, so our families became very close. We were friends since then, even though I picked on him and tortured him. Growing up we grew apart, but found our way back to each other when we were 15 and we have been together ever since. We’ve been engaged since my 23rd birthday, August 19th, 2011, when he proposed on a sailboat on the Willamette river. Our wedding date is August 3rd, 2013.

Can’t wait to see you both again in August for the big day!
Happy Thursday everyone,
Sarah
Christmas break was a whirlwind, and seemed to just fly by. It was a full month of mini-road trips, lots of photo shoots, fun job opportunities, and family time. Now that i’m settling back into Corvallis with the start of a new term, I finally have some time to play catch up. As much as I would love to post hundreds of photos from all of the Christmastime festivities, I will show a little snapshot of my time off. Stay tuned for full blog posts from some portrait, engagement and corporate sessions! Happy New Year!
My roommate and I started break off with a trip up to Bellingham, WA so she could visit her sister, and I could spend time with some dear friends from Timberline and celebrate my friend Katie’s college graduation.
On our way back, we of course had to make a quick stop in Seattle for breakfast, shopping and Pikes!
Christmas was a crazy few days, filled with laughter and a lot of Gillihans.
Toward the end of break, my aunt, uncle and cousin were out in Bend and invited me to join…so quite spontaneously I jumped in the car and headed east! It was an incredible weekend all around. Sweet family time, deep conversation, new restaurants, fun movies and sweet puppies.
More fun to come!
These three and I spent the morning walking around Wilsonville Memorial Park talking about college and sports. They are all about basketball and we had some fun incorporating that into their photos. Go Wildcats!

This post is much overdue, but thanks to one hectic term, I’m just now getting around to updating the social media world. This sweet family and I go way back, and what a joy it has been walking through life with them and watching their family grow. We were blessed with a rain-free morning at Wilsonville Memorial Park to take our second annual Christmas photo session! Be prepared to have your heart stolen.![]()
